Racine’s herstory unfolds, and she discovers that she is part of a great, sweeping mythical world that transcends time and space; and along the way, she is able to explore and deal with her experiences as a black child growing up in a white world, coming to understand that everything that has happened to her is part of a greater story, and one she has the power to narrate for herself.

Excerpt:

Howard had been talking nonstop for twenty minutes.  Each time Petey thought she’d found the opportunity to extricate herself, he continued his rambling, while edging ever closer, invading her personal space, and chatting about his work and his home in New Jersey.  He seemed to be one of those individuals who was completely inept at picking up on social cues.
She’d just worked up the gumption to simply excuse herself the next time he came up for air, when she heard a familiar voice.
There you are, darling!”  Nik swooped in, handing her a glass of wine.  “I’m so sorry I’m late.  Will you ever forgive me?”  He wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her cheek.
Stunned, Petey stammered a bit.  “Um, yes.  Well…darling, yes, you certainly are late.  What’s up with that?  I’ve been waiting for you.”
“I know.  But traffic was a nightmare, what with the rain.  You just wouldn’t believe it.”  Nik turned to Howard.  “Who’s your friend?”  He smiled pleasantly at the confused man.
“Oh, sorry.  Nik, this is Howard.  Howard, meet Nik.”
Howard worked his mouth, but was blissfully silent.
Nik reached to shake his hand.  “So nice to meet you.  If you’ll excuse us, I need to make up for lost time.  Come, darling.”
He grasped Petey’s hand and led her to the opposite side of the gallery.  When they reached a quiet corner, he turned and smiled at her.
She gave a relieved laugh.  “Oh, my God, for the second time tonight, you saved my bacon.”
Nik laughed, too.  “The exasperation on your face said that you needed rescuing.  Who was he anyway?”
“Some guy that my friend Jules thought I should meet.  I mean, he’s nice enough, but he had absolutely no sense of personal space.  And he would notstop talking.  Sheesh!”
“He’s probably just shy in the presence of such a pretty woman.”  Nik’s blue eyes sparkled.
Petey rolled her eyes.  “Yes, I’m sure that’s it,” she said sarcastically.  “I guess you ditched your business dinner?”
Nik nodded. “I did.”
She eyed him curiously.  “What kind of business are you in?”
He paused a beat.  “I’m in international finance and development.”
Warmth flooded her face, and she knew she was blushing.  A sheepish smile curled her lips.  “I have no idea what that means.”
He smiled, too.  “I travel and meet with business people, mostly, occasionally politicians, and we discuss ways to improve our national economies, and ways to assist developing economies as well.”
“Oh.  I’m sure Jules would understand completely.  She has a sharp business mind.  I’m just so,” she gave a self-deprecating chuckle, “right-brained.”
She fanned herself lightly with her hand.  “So, you’d had enough of finances and development for one night?”
Nik nodded agreeably.  “I’ve worked all day.  As I sat listening to more business conversation, all I could think was that I’d like to attend the gallery opening of a promising young sculptor.”
Petey’s eyes sparkled mischievously.  “Well, if I hear of any, I’ll let you know.”  They both laughed together.
“I just watched your video.  Such an interesting way to introduce yourself to patrons.”
“Oh, that.”  Petey blushed.  “Jules flew out to Montana a couple of months ago.  She hired a film crew to follow me for a day, do interviews and stuff.  Then they just put it together.”
He regarded her curiously, eyes sparkling.  “What are the chances you’d give me a guided tour of this incredible exhibit?”
She pretended to consider his request.  “Well, you did see to it that I was put back together after being blasted by that tidal wave.   And, you rescued me from being talked to death by a close-talking dentist.  I’d say your odds are pretty good.”  She laughed.  “I think bringing me a glass of wine put you over the top, though.”
Nik laughed, too.  “Lucky for me, then.”
“Lucky for you.  Okay, let’s take a tour.”

Excerpt:

Petey sighed, pushing away her plate.  “What are we doing, Nik?  I mean, we live
completely different lives.  I’m going back to Montana.  You’re going back to Beruvia.”
She looked to him, eyes shining.  “I don’t have any grand expectations.  If we’re just having a sexy fling, I’m okay with that.  And in that case, it would be pointless to make a public stand.”
Nik pushed back his chair and squatted beside Petey.  Taking her hands in his, he
looked into her eyes.  “Petey, this isn’t just a fling for me.  I’ve fallen in love with you.”
“Nik, just because we’ve had great sex, I don’t expect you to…you know, use the ‘l’ word.
That’s a big step, and it means something to me.”
He placed her hand over his heart.  “I love you, Petey Cavanaugh.  As far as our different worlds, we have air travel, and telephones, and internet.  We can make this work.  If you feel
the same way.”  Uncertainty wavered in his eyes.
Petey felt her heart begin to melt again, and this time, she didn’t stop it.  “I love you, too, Nik.  I tried not to, but there it is.”
He beamed at her.  “Then we’ll figure out how to make this work.  And the first step is going public.”  He kissed her hands, then stood, pulling her to him.  Gazing down at her he cupped her cheek with his hand.  “We’ll make this work.”
Eyes blazing, he lowered his head, crushing her lips with his.  She matched his fervor, her tongue tangling with his, and she gripped his broad shoulders tightly as she attempted to find leverage.  He lifted her onto the edge of the table, not bothering to break the kiss as he shoved their dinner detritus further down the table and out of their way.
Gently her lowered her onto her back on the wide mahogany table, her legs dangling off the edge.  Releasing her lips, he stood over her, grinning wolfishly as he used his body to further spread her legs.  “I do so love the sight of you in my shirt,” he purred, releasing the single button she’d bothered with, revealing all her naked glory.
She smiled seductively, stretching her arms over her head.  “Do you, now?”
He nodded.  “I certainly do.  I need another taste,” he said, licking his lips lasciviously.
Petey drew in a shaky breath and chewed her lower lip as she watched Nik position his face at the apex of her thighs.  “Holy shit,” she breathed.
Gripping the backs of her thighs, he buried his face in her pussy, assailing her tenderness with his day-old beard.  Petey gasped, arching her back, attempting to draw him closer.  She felt the vibration of his laugh.  “Mmm, you like this, do you?”
            “Oh, God, yes!” she hissed.
Holding her legs higher, he lapped at her seam, paying careful attention to the tight bud at the top.  Petey whimpered, slapping the table on either side of her.  “Oh, shit, yessss….”
Pleased by her response, Nik concentrated his efforts on her clit, tonguing it mercilessly as she tumbled from one climax to another, her release splashing over his chin.  When he finally stopped, she was gasping for air, a quivering, trembling mess.

💖 A Valentine's vignette- Lots Of Chocolates For Me To Eat by Bernard Foong 💖

Lots Of Chocolates For Me To Eat

The festive season was in full swing when Walter and I came out of the Rijksmuseum passageway. Gigantic ten feet high alphabets of the word AMSTERDAM stood sculpted before us and beckoned us to explore the outdoor skating ring enclosed behind. Winter revelers wrapped in cozy mittens, ear muffs and toasty scarves twirled and pirouetted like ballet dancers around the ice rink; while others did their utmost to stay erect, and not to appear embarrassed by their lack of gliding skills.

Fascinated by this winter wonderland, I exhorted my hubby forward to saunter the array of twinkling stalls that lined the stockade’s peripheries. Little did I realize we had infiltrated a delectable Feestelijkemarkt (Festival Market) where chocolaatjes, snoeps (Dutch for chocolates and candies), and a variety of festive goodies were on sale.

The event’s jubilant atmosphere, the exquisite taste of handcrafted chocolates and the artistic craftsmanship of the delicacies on offer enticed the visitor to ogle and to savor. Like most public festivals, this fair had street performers, musicians, and parades to dazzle any livid roisterers. Tents and enclosed booths proffered chocolate massages, facials, body rubs, manicures, and pedicures; while chocolate sculptures, chocolate body painting, chocolate cooking and eating contests vie for attention at this expo.

When my beloved and I arrived at a life-sized chocolate gingerbread house covered with berries, raisins, and other delicious goodies, I was bewitched. Never had I witnessed anything with such an appetizing savior faire as I stood to admire this large chocolate gingerbread creation. Through the doorway of this scrumptious cottage appeared a man dressed from head to toe in white. His hair, face, and hands were partially covered with a layer of flour, and he resembled a life snowman without the button eyes, carrot nose, scarf, and hat. He carried a broom, which he used to sweep the interior of this fascinating concoction. Tobias, the creative baker who was responsible for fabricating this edible structure greeted us when we strolled by his stall.

Memories of my time in Germany at the 1966 Tübingen ChocolatART Festival, gushed through my mind. I had documented that provocatively enticing event in A Harem Boy’s Saga – Book II – UNBRIDLED; a memoir by Young (aka Bernard Foong): myBook.to/UNBRIDLED

As we ventured further into this festal labyrinth, I caught sight of a fur booth. Cornucopias of scrumptious fashion items lined the shelves of the stall’s tiny space. I gravitated towards the fur wraps, hats, gloves, and shawls. One stole caught my eye. Although this long scarf was of faux pelage, the textural color combination was nothing short of prepossessing. I was already infatuated with its elegance before my husband urged me to try it on. Since I know the fashion industry inside out and am aware of the production cost of this caliber, I was trounced by the price tag. I was hesitant to pay the cost no matter how much I adored the stole.

God bless my beloved, hubby, who exhorted, “Darling, you do look stunning in it. If you truly love this écharpe (scarf in French) consider it my anniversary gift to you.”
“But our 21st anniversary isn’t until Valentine’s day 2018,” I countered startlingly.
To which my beloved replied entrancingly, “Sweetie, you are my Valentine every day of the year.”
“I’m glad my fairy spell worked on you,” I quipped with merriment before we departed the stall with the captivating scarf to warm my freezing neck.
